R48,00
Fast-growing, aromatic, and breathtaking! The Indigenous Ginger Bush (Tetradenia riparia) produces winter blooms, repels garden pests, and has a rich history in traditional remedies. Extremely easy to propagate from cuttings!
Why You’ll Love Growing Iboza:
Natural Pest & Mosquito Repellent: The highly aromatic leaves contain natural essential oils that help deter mosquitoes, flies, and garden pests when planted around outdoor living spaces or near doorways.
Stunning Winter Colour: When most garden plants go dormant in late autumn and winter, Iboza erupts in clouds of delicate lilac-mauve blossoms that brighten up cold landscapes.
Magnet for Beneficial Wildlife: The plumey flowers are packed with nectar, attracting honeybees, butterflies, and nectar-feeding birds to your garden.
Rich Traditional Medicinal Value: Known in Zulu culture as Iboza, the leaves are traditionally crushed and inhaled to help clear blocked sinuses, soothe headaches, and relieve flu symptoms.
Drought Tolerant & Low Maintenance: Once established, this hardy shrub thrives in dry periods, requiring minimal water and attention.
Rapid Growth Rate: Grows extremely quickly into a full, bushy shrub and often flowers in its very first year.

Planting & Propagation Instructions
Prepare the Cuttings:
Strip off the lower leaves, leaving only 2 to 4 leaves at the very top. Cut large top leaves in half to reduce moisture loss while roots form.
Insert the bottom third of the stem into a small pot filled with well-draining potting soil or a river sand/perlite mix. (Optional: Dip the cut stem in rooting powder before planting).
Location & Water:
Keep the pot in a warm spot with bright, indirect light. Keep the soil lightly moist (never waterlogged). Roots will form rapidly in 2–3 weeks.
Garden Placement:
Plant out in full sun or light shade in well-draining soil. Prune back firmly after flowering each winter to encourage dense, bushy growth.
