Egyptian Walking Onions (10)
R100,00
Egyptian onions don’t make seeds the normal way. Instead, they produce these little bulblets at the top of the stalk. When they get heavy enough, the stalk bends down and the bulblets root where they fall — almost like the plant is “walking.”
Plant one, and in time you get many, because each new plant will make more top sets every season.
Keep the soil moist (not soggy) while they settle in. They dry out easily when they’re young.
Choose a sunny spot with loose, well-draining soil.
Once established, they’re tough, drought-tolerant, cold-hardy, and incredibly productive.
The whole plant is edible — greens, bulbs, and top sets — with a strong classic onion flavour.
Perfect for homesteaders who want a perennial onion that practically grows itself once established.
