Hard-Rind Purple Cane – The serious homesteader’s variety. High sugar content, perfect for pressing and syrup making. Extremely hardy grower.

How to Plant:

Planting these is dead simple. Just dig a shallow trench in a full-sun spot and lay the cutting down flat on its side—there’s no need to stand them upright. Cover it with about 5cm of soil and keep the ground damp (but not soggy) until you see the new shoots poking through. They are hungry plants, so digging some compost or manure into the soil before you plant will really help them take off.
